The Outlook Steak & Grill - Baguio City

We had to share this whole story !

"Well we went to lunch at the "Outlook Steakhouse" today... Man what an experience and ordeal. Some good, some bad... First off we were trying to get there by google map, which was sent to us by a friend and Google was way off! We spent 45 minutes trying to find the place literally going round in circles. I mean we were driving around a backyard cement circle! Not really a traffic circle. It was off of Overlook and the map actually took us to someone's house. We must have stopped and asked for directions 5 times. Some said it was off the circle and others on Overlook drive. I wanted to trust the google map because you could see the big house on Google Satellite which it showed as the restaurant! Finally we gave up on the circle and went up and down Overlook. ( I should have looked and used the directions on their FB page which is CORRECT! ARRRG!) Our taxi driver did not know the difference between north and south Overlook so we had to correct him by watching the signs.

Finally we found North Overlook and luckily saw the sign way up on the building. Their FB page does not have a ph# so we couldn't call them for help. We told them that after we ate and told them they should add that they are in or connected to the Grand Sierra Pines Hotel! YEESH!!! So we go in, the place is gorgeous, modern and only 3 years old. Well maintained and spotless. Everyone was so helpful and professional. Sue grabbed a slice of this yummy 3 layered, chocolate brownie, vanilla, chocolate chip cheese cake as we walked in past the bakery in the hall outside of the resto. We went in the restaurant, got a nice table by open window doors, ordered iced cafe Au Lait and got iced Cafe Americano.
They fixed the mistake quickly. Then we went to order and they were out of every appetizer on the menu except buffalo wings. I so wanted to try their Parmesan crusted mac and cheese with marinara sauce... :( I ended up just ordering their bacon mac and cheese. We also got an order of deep fried onion strings. I then go to order a steak and the only steak they had was the marinated flank steak. We would have walked out right then and there but we were hungry and it took us so long to finally get there. So I reluctantly ordered the flank steak with mashed potatoes, ordered a side of gravy and got truffled creamed corn for my 2nd side.

Sue ordered the ribs, rice pilaf and cole slaw. She had grabbed a slice of this yummy 3 layered, chocolate brownie, vanilla, chocolate chip cheese cake as we walked in past the bakery in the hall outside of the resto. We start to eat the appetizers before the entree arrived. The mac and cheese could have been good if they wouldn't have poured sugar or simple syrup into it. Blech! The onions strings looked like oily tempura. They were tasty but would have been so much better and less oily if they would have fried it a bit longer. I was afraid to see the entree... But much to my surprise the food and my mood got much better!
Sue's ribs were a big whole slab! I would put them right next to Canbtos or Red Rustikz's! Even more meatier and fall of the bone! Even the connecting cartilage was just as soft as the meat and not rubbery. Nice sauce. The slaw was good too.

My flank steak was around an inch thick and cooked exactly like I like it. On the rare side of medium rare. I cut it expecting a tough steak which flank usually is but this was great! Moist and tender! Most flank steaks are cut in thin long slices against the grain to lessen the toughness but I really don't think this was flank steak. It did not have the long, one way grain running perpendicular to the plate. It looked like a nice big tenderloin steak and ate just like one! It did not need ANYTHING! Salt, pepper, gravy, NOTHING! It was excellent and there is no way their porter house can be worth 3 times the cost! The mashed potatoes were great and the gravy, which came in a nice boat, was thick, delicious and looked like it had truffles grated in it also. The truffled cream corn could have been also good but the Chef had made it Filipino style and over did the sugar again! The yummy corn was sweet enough already!

We both shared everything and were stuffed. But not enough not to finish it off with our coffees and cheese cake. Actually the vanilla part was the only layer that had cream cheese so it was lighter than it sounds.

So all in all it ended up nicely and with my Seniors discount it only ended up being 1700p including the cake!
We will definitely go back again. This time we will get there quicker and will call ahead to make sure they have a full menu. The waitress said they were slammed last night and hadn't gotten a Sunday delivery yet. Can't blame them for that... The waitress gave us both cards for the place and said to call and make reservations for supper to to be safe..."
